What is GMO?
GMO are Genetically Modified Organisms  that are created by taking DNA from
animals, insects, bacteria or plants and combining them together to create a species of animals or plants which is not natural. The health and environmental risks are not known.
Canada, Argentina, Brazil and China, United States have jumped on the GMO bandwagon, although GMO is banned in Europe and  Japan.

What foods contain GMOs?
In Canada alone GMOs are found in about  70 percent of all processed foods. The most common ingredients are corn, soy, canola, rapseed, sugar beets, aspartame, papayas, farm raised salmo, dairy and cotton.

How to avoid GMOs?
The US and Canadian governments do not allow manufacturers to label something
100% organic if that food has been genetically modified or been fed genetically
modified feed. *Be sure the labels say 100% organic anything that just says organic can have up to 30% GMO ingredients.

Buy 100% organic products
Avoid any processed or prepackaged foods
Look for the NON GMO logo on products
Read nutrition labels carefully for hidden GMO ingredients such as Corn syrup, Corn flour, Malt syrup, Glutamic acid, Glycerol, Tofu, Tempeh etc.

What are the side effects of GMOs?
Increase food allergies
Increased toxicity

Stress making you fat? Blame your cortisol levels…

Stress is a natural response that the body undergoes when faced with any form of physical, emotional or mental challenge.

Physical- excessive exercise, running away from danger

Emotional- Breakups, divorce, death in family

Mental- over worked, working 50+ hours a week

The body reacts in the exact same way to any of these stressors, causing actual hormonal changes in the body. The key hormone being is cortisol, excess cortisol levels in the body is the main culprit of stress associated weight gain.  Cortisol not only causes our body to gain excess fat, but it sends it right to our mid-section. This type of fat, called visceral or "toxic" fat, doesn't just lie under the skin; it actually surrounds our organs, and is correlated to an increased risk of heart disease.

What else does cortisol do?

-          Slows down your metabolism making it more difficult for your body to burn calories.

-          Raises blood sugar levels causing hyperglycemia and mood swings

-          Causes food cravings of salty, sweet and fatty foods

-          Causes excess nervous energy causing emotional eating

Prevention

-          Choose healthy foods to munch on

-          Take supplements to support adrenals

-          Exercise, yoga, meditation

Supplement

-          TrueStress

Just 2 capsules of TrueStress a day, to support the body and the adrenal glands during times of stress and anxiety.

What is detoxification?

Detoxification is the process by which the body eliminates toxins from its cells. Toxins exist everywhere and can lead to many health problems. Toxins drain the body of energy, making the body more prone to disease and infection.

Toxins can be found in food (pesticides/herbicides), and in the environment. When our bodies reach a point where it cannot metabolize and rid the toxins out of the body we get sick and our energy levels start to decline.

What is involved in detoxification?

There are many types of detoxification protocols that you can try. During the detoxification process you stay away from the following: Caffeine, Nicotine, Sugar and Alcohol

Depending on the length of the detox and your current state of health you can experience some detoxification symptoms such as: Increase flatulence, skin eruptions, weakness, fatigue, nausea, nervousness, coated tongue, aches and pain, nightmares, and frequent urination

The good news is that detoxification symptoms are a sign that your body is becoming healthier each day and releasing waste from the body. During the detoxification do not take vitamins or any supplements to ease your symptoms; the symptoms are part of the healing process.

Anyone can benefit greatly form losing weight if they are carrying extra. You will naturally feel better, look better and have lots of energy. So not only will you feel great you will reduce the chances of getting disease and add years to your life.

Important factors to natural weight loss without counting calories.

Water: increase water consumption, this will flush out toxins and help promotes bowel movements. Thirst is sometimes confused with hunger.

Fiber: Consumed before a meal, soluble fiber has multiple benefits. First, it is filling and causes people to eat less because they are satiated sooner. People can actually cut the size of their meals in half by consuming a  glass of soluble fiber mix before eating. Equally important, consuming fiber
before meals can reduce the rapid absorption of simple carbohydrates (such as refined sugar) and modulate blood sugar levels. Fiber also binds to bad fats and with water eliminates them from the body through bowel movements

Green tea and green tea extract have shown an ability to increase metabolic rate.

EFA-Eating fish is an excellent way to promote weight loss. Many people also choose to take essential fatty acid supplements that are high in EPA and DHA extracted from fish oils.  Consuming cold-water fish (e.g., salmon, herring, and mackerel) and fish oil supplements favorably influences
hormone-like substances in the body known as prostaglandins, specifically PgE1, conferring a protective effect against chronic inflammation and vascular disease, common in overweight individuals

Portion Control: Eat the majority of your food earlier in the day, when insulin sensitivity is better. Severely obese people should consider consuming the bulk of their calories for breakfast and avoiding any food after 7:00 p.m. Another strategy is to consume daily six small-calorie meals containing small amounts of protein, monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fat, and unrefined, low-glycemic carbohydrates. These small meals should not exceed 250-300 calories
